They were a distinguished teacher, comprehensive scholar of rational and transmitted sciences, a great jurist, an eloquent speaker, and the author of multiple books, who had a unique position in fatawa writing. Most of their life was spent in religious service; their academic and religious services span almost half a century. From an early age, they demonstrated their knowledge through teaching, writing, and speaking, and using the aforementioned means to communicate their knowledge to the people and the public.

Birth

Qibla Mufti Sahib was born in Haripur (a city in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) on 21st April 1937 (around 10th Safar 1356 AH) in an eminent Qureshi family. Their honourable father held an Aqeeqah for them, chose their name, and took the duaas of many respected scholars of their time.

Name

Their name is Abu Al-Wafa Mufti Muhammad Saifur Rahman. In relation to their spiritual path, they were Qadri Suharwardi, and in relation to their scholarship, they studied the Barakati method. Their father’s name is Shaykh-ul-Islam Hazrat Allama Maulana Qazi Muhammad Abdul Subhan (May Allah bless them and grant them peace). Hazrat Qazi Sahib was granted the spiritual authorisation (ijaazah) from Awan Sharif. Their grandfather’s name is Faqih Zamana (jurist of their time) Allama Muhammad Mazhar Jameel, who taught Hadith in the Haramain Shareefain (Makkah al-Mukarramah and Madinah al-Munawwarah), and the chain of their disciples and students spread all over the world. Their great grandfather was Qazi Muhammad Ghaus Hazarvi.

Education & Scholarly Studying

Mufti Saif Ur Rehman Hazarvi received their primary education at home from their maternal grandmother (who was an educated woman), which attracted them towards literature. They then studied the Qur’an and a few elementary lessons of Persian from some learned and pious people in their mosque. Then, for three years, they studied at Madrasah Islamiya, organised by Anjuman Khudam al-Sufiyah, and for two years, they benefited from Jamia Hazrat Mian Sharaqpur Sharif. This was followed by one year in Ahsan ul Madaaris Rawalpindi under the Honourable Arif Shah Sahib Qadri. They completed their studies and religious sciences with their father. Then, in the last year in Dar Uloom Islamia Rahmaniya Haripur Hazara, they studied Dawra-e-Hadith with their father in 1957. In 1958, in Jamia Rizviyyah Manzar-ul-Islam Faisalabad under Muhaddith e Ahl-e-Sunnat Hazrat Allama Sardar Ahmad Sahib (May Allah Have Mercy On Him), they studied the books of Hadith. Apart from this, they studied under many other great Ulamaa and Shuyookh, amongst whom was Hazrat Allama Molana Abdul Jaleel Fazzal Tongi, who came to Kalla Batt on the request of Hazrat Allama Abdul Subhan after the partition of Pakistan and India. For this reason, they were ascribed as Barakati. But they studied most of the rational and transmitted sciences from their honourable father and his brother-in-law Qazi Habibur Rahman and elder brother Qazi Ghulam Mehmood Hazarvi. Then, at the end, they attained knowledge in the explanation and interpretation of the books of fiqh and other issues from their father-in-law, the esteemed teacher, Hazrat Qazi Sadruddin (May Allah Have Mercy On Him).
